Sabian Symbol “A FLOCK OF WILD GEESE”
Take your cue from the wild geese. When they fly in formation, they take turns in leading the way; when one gets tired or sick, another takes the lead. Spread your wings and seek freedom, taking note of ‘seasonal’ variations around you. Just remember to be mindful of your responsibilities to both yourself and others. Be a part of the group by contributing and promoting the joys of togetherness while keeping a sense of independence. Geese are known for forming lifelong partnerships, so marriage or partnership may indeed be a consideration in this situation. Aquarian ideals of brotherhood. Attunement to planetary rhythms. Spirit liberated from matter. Focused group activity and support. Choreography. Flying in the slipstream.
The Shadow: Following the leader without knowing where you are going. Never knowing where to land, or where to ground your self. Taking off on wild goose chases*.
* Lynda Hill’s Sabian Oracle
As the first New Moon in the Astrological New Year, this lunation has strong energetic potential and a fertile ground for planting intentional “seeds” in one’s life. Our Sun and Moon are in the second decan of Aries, a time of great power for initiating change and action over time.
However, we also have Sun and Moon engaged in a large stellium (group) of planets in Aries- and closely conjoined with Chiron.
Chiron is commonly known in Astrology as “the wounded healer” and this moniker comes from a portion of the Centaur Chiron’s Grecian Myth.
Raised alone in a cave, as an adoptee of the God Apollo, Chiron was half man and half horse, a hybrid- whose first wounding was one of parental abandonment due to his condition. He was born a son of Kronos ( Saturn) and immortal. When one of his students (Hercules) accidentaly wounds him with the poison of the Hydra, his fate was to be eternally in pain. Long story short, Chiron renounced his immortality to assist Prometheus and was placed in the heavens to be honored as the constellation Centaurus. Chiron grew into the teacher of Heroes, of Healers and “Shaman” and through his wisdom those under his guidance grew into their wisest and best versions of themselves.
Your natal placement of this body can tell a similar story for you- how can you consciously integrate your wounds, and then use the sense of compassion and empathy this offers- to add to your understanding and life guidance?
To have our New Moon so close to transiting Chiron now, is to have the potential to feel how we can grow in our own evolutionary journey of wholeness- perhaps through integrating our personal and collective hurt. Mercury also sits near in Aries, helping us to reason or make connections on the whys and hows. Mercury in Aries may also be a ME mindset, which guides us to take advantage of the idea of ”putting on our oxygen masks first“ before getting into the work of helping or pleasing others. Speaking one’s truth, or even just becoming aware of it, can be extremely helpful in moving past old hurts, slights or even feelings of victimization that may be lingering.
Our lunations ruler or “dispositor” Mars is located in Aquarius and conjunct Saturn, actions may be frustrated, delayed, blocked. We may feel alienated, alone, or seriously rebellious. Think on how to healthily accomplish healing without cutting off sources of potential connection completely. Hold your tempers! Deep breaths if you get triggered, Saturn calls for maturity, wisdom and patience and taking responsibility for our minds!
We will soon have some very magical energetic opportuties as Jupiter moves to conjoin Neptune. This is the time for self understanding, self responsibility, self knowledge.
This is also a time of taking turns leading the way, of each of us understanding how to do this co-operatively. Seek your freedom, yet contribute to others in whatever ways you can. We are all #inthistogether
Let the light of awareness shine on your “inner light”- as you await on the will of the heavens, for the springs to fill up again, for the time and place to act.
Make wishes this new moon along the house position you have Aries governing in your natal chart, or along the themes of personal planets in Aries, or just general self determinism!
Like Aries Tarot Card “ The Magician” – you DO have the elemental tools at hand to co- create your life. Do it consciously by connecting with your inner self, your soul guides the way.
